Am I a Tool for the Universe?
In my last ‘Blog’ titled “Ask and You Shall Receive” I was directed by the Universe to start training for a Marathon. If you recall I said, “I have never really felt the need to run before so why now? . . . I don't know....” Well….I have some updates.
Remember I also said, “After 30 years I ran, walked and limped my way through 4 miles and began my trek to a marathon.” The limping only increased. After a 5-mile trail run, a mere two weeks later, I had to go see a doctor for the pain. That led to MRIs and a month of no exercise…not even racquetball that I have played three times a week for years. I didn’t understand why the Universe suggested I run and then take it away from me. I found out this Sunday the Universe was not answering my request…I was just the means to the Universes answer to someone else’s request.
My wife and I believe that we are co-creators of our life experience. That we, through our thoughts and prayers can effect our outcome. Following our church service this week, we were discussing our affirmations and how detailed they needed to be. Was it more effective to ask for something very specific or to ask for a more general outcome and allow the Universe to provide the details. We decided we could mix and match depending on the experience we wanted to achieve.
She gave a great example. Sandy, that’s my wife, said about two months ago she began to affirm a certain, very specific weight below her current weight. As she began to create, the Universe provided and things began to happen. One of those things was me calling her to ask if she wanted to run a marathon with me. Sandy said she had no real desire to run however, she said she would support me. As we began our running program Sandy’s weight began to decrease and my legs began to hurt. Sandy is now at eight miles, scheduled to run her first 10K and nearly her goal weight. I have just restarted my training and am at one mile as of today.
The Universe heard Sandy’s request and gave me the desire to run a marathon…the means to an end. I ask why the Universe couldn’t have just given Sandy the desire to run a marathon. It certainly would have been less painful for me. Perhaps there is a lesson here for me as well. If the Universe provides perfectly then I have manifested this experience for a reason. Perhaps the Universe, in all its wisdom, like water down a river, takes the path of less resistance. Often my requests are answered through the actions of others who are more open to a specific direction than I would be. Perhaps I was more willing to run a marathon than Sandy would have been... The Universe may provide perfectly however, we are all still learning how to receive.
Tuesday…1.5 miles… Watch out Marathon…here I come!

Ask & You Shall Receive!!!
For those of you who study the Bible there are numerous references to "Asking & Receiving", Matthew 7:7, Luke 11:9, John 14:14, John 16:23, Philippians 4:19, to name a few. God...The Universe is perfect and provides perfectly, we must only ask. So be carful for what you ask.
I have been toying with the notion of running a marathon...If you know me you might ask why since I have not run more than 4 miles required in my P.E. class in highschool over 30 years ago. I have never really felt the need to run before so why now? . . . I don't know....however, for those that do know me....I don't do regret...I just do! I began by asking a few friends that have participated in Team in Training and other running organizations. I gave a couple of organization names to my wife and with a few strokes of the keys we were signed up with "San Jose Fit" to train for a half-marathon in September. We registered on the last sign-up day for this year.
On Saturday we were informed our first run would be 4 miles. After 30 years I ran, walked and limped my way through 4 miles and began my trek to a marathon. It happened much faster than I ever expected and had no intention of ever jumping in so quickly. Fortunately the Universe does not know time...it only provides perfectly....

A Virtual Reality
The Big Bang is the cosmological model of the initial conditions and subsequent development of the Universe that is supported by the most comprehensive and accurate explanations from current scientific evidence and observation. The term Big Bang generally refers to the idea that the Universe has expanded from a primordial hot and dense initial condition at some finite time in the past (currently estimated to have been approximately 13.7 billion years ago).
All the matter in the Universe has come from a “primordial hot and dense” ball of stuff estimated to have been about the size of a small fruit. I read that when looking at a table and considering the actual particles of “stuff” versus space between the “stuff” that make up a table, the table should not exist. As I rest my hand on this table, my hand should pass right through. . . but it does not.
At a subconscious level, I must have an agreement with the universe that this table is solid. . . even though there isn’t enough “stuff” to make it so. It is not just this table, it is everything around me. I have agreed to participate in a set of rules that define reality and determine a common experience. The rules that determine my physical experience are shared. We all experience a shared set of rules. . . a Holographic Universe.
As I look around, and attempt to consider the complexity of all the rules that create my physical existence and the universe that surrounds me and realize everyone is sharing the same physical virtual universe, I have no doubt that God exists.

The Musings of a 16 year old girl
Our family spent a day together in Santa Cruz on Sunday. My wife and I found one of those little signs that hang on the wall with a witty quip that reflects the current environmet. As two people that enjoy tasting wine with friends, our new sign read, "What happens at The Winery, Stays at The Winery". This seemed fitting and humorous until my 16 year old daughter, with a severe look of disdain, noticed that it replaced a sign that read, "Laughter Warms this Home". I'm sure she was attempting to communicate some deep message that we missed. . . but what does a 16 year old girl know about life. . .?

The Universe Provides Perfectly
I recently had a discussion with my friend Stan Harris who asked me what I really wanted for Christmas. After 23 hours of thought I decided I told him I wanted faith. I believe the Universe provides perfectly. We must only ask and we shall receive. This requires our asking (which I am constantly doing) and the act of receiving, which is not as easy as it sounds. In order to receive I must believe that I will receive. . . I must have faith. Fear is doubt. If I fear losing something the universe will take it away. I must truely believe and have faith to be ready to receive.

Happy, Healthy, Wealthy, Wise
I said in my Bio that this is my affirmation. I repeat it multiple times each day with mental pictures of what each word represents at that time in my life. Happy and greatful for the things God has given me, Healthy enough to have the energy to experience all life has to offer each day, Wealthy enough to provide for my family and community, Wise enough to provide appropriate advice to my family, friends, community and clients.

In the begining. . .
If there is one thing I have learned through my life's experiences, it is that it always takes twice as long as you expect and costs twice as much as budgeted. The second thing is that if you use the cheapest alternative, you will probably end up having it done over by the more expensive alternative anyway.
